getting ready to go have dorkwagon checked out

Now that we've been thoroughly informed how dorky (not a problem; we kinda like dorky) and uninspired (well, what do you what from a clunker) and flimsy (but it's cheap, and the heat works) the Taurus wagon is, we're off to take it to a mechanic.

Had a tiring but sorta fun weekend. Highlight: playing Holly's new (birthday present) Cuban cigar box ukulele in bed Sat. night. We already do a passable "Heart and Soul," a not-too-sluggish "When the Red, Red Robin Comes Bob-Bob-Bobbin' Along," and---well, can't remember the third number, but I do remember it was a little shaky.

So, who informed you that Taurus wagons are dorky, uninspired, and flimsy? I wasn't that fond of the college Taurus wagon I drove to Boston last spring, but that was cuz I don't like the new style of dashboards that are 10 feet wide (okay, I'm exaggerating a bit). I didn't have the best vision over the hood. I thought it handled fine and ran well, and it had a cd player and cupholders in it. It didn't strike me as flimsy at all. Uninspired? Most modern cars are uninspired. Can't be helped.

Belated happy birthdays to Holly-girl! Sounds like she got a cool present.

My brother has rented many a Taurus, and [livejournal.com profile] upsidedownblue seemed to concur that it's hardly a chic set of wheels. But we like it---and now we own it! Complete with nearly 108,000 miles on it. But the heat sure works! oh, and it has a power moon roof, for when you need to look at the power moon. I don't mind any of the power features except the automatically-looks-your-doors-after-30-seconds feature. That always reminds me of paranoid white people in Baltimore.

actually....

Brandon reports that he just hated the car (when Nathaniel had one). But of course he hates all cars!

Congrats on the New Wheels!

Yeah, I would agree that Taurus wagons aren't exactly chic. Although Taurus sedans had a geeky coolness to them for a while--since that's what Mulder and Skully always drove. Old Jeeps with no heat aren't exactly chic either.

Hooray for working heat, though. Woohoo!

I can see where automatic-locking would be annoying, too. Oh wait, I forgot . . . oh, shit. *rummaging for keys*
