i always say i like the yoking ones (or jok-ing, in the good family jok). zeugma, e.g. but i'm not sure that's fully true.
is it a device to have multiple layers of meaning? is ambiguity a device?
i don't know that i could live without metaphor. who could?

i don't believe in rhetoric--i think language is all there is :)
i think it's a device to be following the many layers at once, like a mechanical loom did. revolutionary!
