sleepover to-nite

Tonight I'm sleeping at the University of Michigan sleep clinic, attached to sensors and videotaped. It all seems kind of kinky in my imagination. But I've long been interested in sleep, and sleep research, and also I'm a fan of sleep, so it's an experience I'm looking forward to from perspectives other than possible improvements in my sleeping.

I'm sure there's a joke to be made about being so dumb you can't even pass Sleeping. Sadly, I'm too tired to figure it out. (No caffeine allowed on the sleep test day, and this particularly Monday is a Monday on which I could use some.)

I've had difficulty sleeping for a number of years... the vicious circle that is back pain ~> insomnia ~> depression ~> increased back pain ~> more frequent insomnia ~> more severe depression ~> and so on. It flows either direction with equal ease.

maybe you should try it

I need to do a post about the experience, but I'd say, if you've had such problems, it's worth looking into, if you have health insurance, at least. I know two people who swear the breathing machine (CPAP) has improved the quality of their lives dramatically. And it's just that vicious circle you're talking about.

I have been hoping my doctor would prescribe one of those Tempur-pedic mattresses ("Swedish space technology!") for a while now... perhaps the stars are right, and this time I will get lucky. LOL
