May. 17th, 2007 04:45 pmPRIZE: actual snail-mail postcard, sent through the U.S. mails to you at the new rate (26¢, domestically, for up to 6 inches by up to 4.25 inches)
YOUR MISSION: Match each beauty parlor interior with its city.
Winner is (a) the first to match all four correctly, or (b) whoever has the most correct matches when I get tired of waiting.
In the event of a tie I'll send everybody tied for first a card.
Okay, here are the cities:
(1) La Palma, California, U.S.A.
(2) Salt Lake City, Utah, U.S.A.
(3) Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
(4) East Orange, New Jersey, U.S.A.
and the lovely atmospheres in which to get your 'do done are here:
(a)
(b)
(c)
(d)
And don't be trying to guess from the image file names. They don't match the questions.
Good luck! [edit: contest now closed --- results here]

I'm certain that those rationalizations are no better than random chance. Let's see--I have a one in four chance of getting the first one right, a one-in-three chance for the second if I get the first, and a 50-50 chance for the third if the first two are right. The last would be a gimme. That gives me a 1 in 24 chance of winning a postcard.
If I win, will you give it a spritz of that root beer perfume you use on your pencils?

Date: May. 18th, 2007 12:42 am (UTC)1. A. Back then, whenever this was, wouldn't La Palma, Orange County, California, hve been more "provincial"? Also there are windows to let in the sun.
2. C I'm influenced by Peter--shouldn't have read what he wrote. But the light color and soaring architecture seem to be ab beauty parlor's attempt ad Latter-Day godliness.
3. D. Ottawa, Ontario. Influenced by Peter again. Also, Ya gotta remember, Ottawa's the capital, and a fine city it is. I was there a few summers ago. They LOVE Labradors there.
4. B. Orange, NJ. Hey, we're near NYC. Mob bosses' wives might come here.
