I love that sort of thing, and will have to check out that series, as I enjoy a lot of the artists who do the remixing. (I'm embarrassingly ignorant of a lot of the original songs.) Thanks for the tip!
You might also enjoy the series Blue Note Trip that was released by a remix act called Jazzanova. It's relatively faithful to the originals, but it's very cool.
Say, meant to write you... did I ever send you a second disk of an oddball mix of tunes? I have a playlist to that effect in my iTunes at home, but I can't remember whether I ever burned & sent it. Got another (small) somethin' else for you, so seems worth asking.
Ooh- no, I never got that, but I would love to hear it! Yay! Though if you don't feel like making the trip to the post office, I'm going to be in Michigan for a few days at the end of May, and am hoping to stop by MR and see everyone. I just heard the third disc in that Verve series last Sunday when I went to my neighbors' for Easter dinner, and I was planning on asking them if I could borrow it. I went to amazon, and people were saying that the third disc wasn't as good as the other two--well, i Hope that means I'd love them all then.
