That's the first pop song I remember liking as a child. Lyrically it didn't make sense to me, but the tune was catchy. I was the next century before I had a chance to hear it again and listen to the words, and figure out what the heck it was about.

You and I are quite close in age, I reckon. I remember her "Downtown" hit, and hearing it in what I thought of as downtown---Aggieville, the little shopping area near campus in the Little Apple.

I s'pose the nice thing about "Downtown" was that it could be any downtown you knew of. That whole universality thing.

I don't know this one, but of course I've heard "Downtown" (plus, i have the B-52s album that covers the latter).
