WJZ-TV B'more Broadcasts Spoof as Breaking News

It seems particularly appropriate that Channel 13 would mess up with a race-related story since that station's the one that resisted integrating the Buddy Dean Show, inspiring John Waters's central story in Hairspray. They're the moneyed, slicker-than-thou station in town, too, or used to be. And that's where Oprah worked and left, reporting she was treated terribly.

Okay, now that's embarrassing. Yes, I work in Baltimore. No, I'm not from there technically. Just wanna make that absolutely clear. And that even though I work in Baltimore, I am in no way affiliated with Channel 13 or even Channel 11 or for that matter Newschannel 2. Although there is one of the weekend reporters for Newschannel 2 that I wouldn't mind so much being affiliated with, if you know what I mean . . . but I digress.

Anyway--what a stupid and embarrassing blunder.

I guess you'd have no trouble guessing which member of channel 4 in D.C. I used to want to be affiliated with. You know, presuming his rumored cocaine days are over.

Ah yes, Jim Vance is one of a kind. If he thinks that something in the news or the "human interest" pieces or the entertainment world deserves a comment, he comments. He comes right out with his opinion, too, which is my favorite thing about him. (Well, that and his smile.)
