I'm hungry.

What can I whip up when I get home? I have some cauliflower. And bread. And mushrooms & romaine, and onions & a potato. And a few cans of things. And a little cheese. And a couple of apples. And some dry pasta. And milk.

I had a fine weekend, but I do wish I'd pulled off the making of a big batch of something that would be waiting now to be re-heated, like the spaghetti sauce I enjoyed coming home to last week.

potatoes, onions, salad

slice potatoes and chop up an onion. arrange in an oiled/buttered baking dish. sprinkle with sesame seeds if you have any. sprinkle with oil. cover with foil, bake at 400 for 30 minutes, uncover, bake for another 5. cubed potatoes bake faster (smaller volume). one layer bakes faster than two.

while it's baking, you can toss up some green salad.

cream of mushroom soup w/the milk and cheese. through the potatos and onions in.

bake the bread at 450 for 10 minutes or so. scoop out the inside and pour the soup in. use the remaining crust/bread to dip in the soup.

so what did you end up having? i meant to make chili this weekend for eating this week, but didn't. i had one great meal i cooked, though: baked salmon and steamed broccoli. easy and quick. i would have had rice too, but i only had the kind that takes longer to make. then i use the leftover fish cold on salads. yum. got that idea, actually, because a conservative thinktank i used to proofread for would serve hot salmon atop salad greens in its cafeteria. (I, ahem, occasionally would go in there late, after the chef disappeared and left payment to the "honor system," and I would, ahem, pay what I could, until one day when the chef appeared and gave me a lecture.)

I'm glad you stole from the conservative thinktank. Too bad you didn't stealth proofflub for 'em too. (or DID you??)
