It seems to me somehow kinda like that way some little kids sit on the floor/ground, with their legs bent back at their sides (which is apparently a yoga position, this googling for an image teaches me), and here it is for you to see--- Humphrey's funny way of sitting, captured by telephone:



I think maybe that lower left one's the best shot, overall (see it bigger here). But the top one sorta shows off the goofiness.

I love that top picture! The expression on his face is so, oh I don't know, so "Humphrey Hambone-esque"!

BTW--The other day, Jeff & I saw that Tom & Jerry cartoon with the folk-singin' mouse who sings the "Hambone" version of "Froggy Went A-Courtin'"--we had a good laugh thinking of the Humphrey-naming polls.
