I'm just posting cuz I haven't in a few days. Don't want to lose the habit entirely, and for some reason it feels as if I might.

Hello.

Looks as if I may need to finish my little outside painting project tonight or tomorrow a.m., as more rain's a-comin'. Gotta figure out what to do before winter with the steps.

I've had kind of a low-level setback in mood this week, seemingly caused as much by being set back in mood as by the triggering incident. I'm so meta-pathetic sometimes it's ridiculous. Either that or (maybe in addition to that?) I'm living in the moment in terms of processing what comes to me emotionally & that's really great, rah rah, sis boom bah.

There's this: I've got somebody to root for in the World Series. Do you?

I'm an AL kinda gal, too. I think we're more sentimental: keep those old guys with bad knees playing as DH, anyway. I guess the natural grass vs. artificial turf thing doesn't apply do much any more. Maybe we should ask [livejournal.com profile] kohkae about the flavor of the leagues from their history---she just finished watching that Ken Burns baseball documentary.

I love old guys with bad knees! Speaking of old guys, did I tell you that it was Rick Dempsey's birthday the night of that game Jeff & I went to? Jeff's Uncle Dave, Granddad, and I got to tell Jeff about the one of the O's from the good ole days. (Of course, since he's the first base coach, he was there to wave at the crowd when we gave him a birthday standing O.)

Oh, that's cool. Did they put footage of him on (whatever they call the Camden Yards) Jumbotron? Like my favorite footage---him "running" the bases during a rain delay, sliding on his belly on the tarp? He was my kinda ballplayer, that Dempsey. Or one of my kindsa ballplayer.

p.s.

My nod to the old Oriole days is, even now that it no longer comes out of my mouth unthinkingly along with the tens of thousands of others standing next to me, to go ahead and yell (or at least say quietly, yet intoning it as if yelling) "O!" at that pivotal moment in the anthem. Which is about the only thing I dig about that song any more.

I've always wondered if, in Atlanta, they end with "and the home/of the/Braves"...

I'm an AL gal also growing up with the Royals (sigh) and all. I'm still in an AL city now with my adopted Rangers. With the exception of the Yankees, A's, and maybe the White Sox, I'm going to root for the AL team in the WS. (Yeah, Tigers!)

Ken Burns said: they introduced the DH in 1973 to help the sagging offensive production. It's all I've ever really known growing up so I'm okay with it.

Does anyone still have artificial turf besides Minnesota?
