released from jury duty already

Ah, well. At least now nothing'll keep me from bringing wiffle ball to the company picnic (first one off campus since I've worked here).

I went into the back-up closet this a.m. for a shirt with a collar, to show my respect for the American Judicial System. Pulled one out. Later, while affixing my JUROR badge thereto, I discovered that I'd last worn the shirt on July 2, 2002.

It made me feel lonely.

That's what the american judicial system will get you. Loneliness. Welcome back!

It's better than solitary confinement, I s'pose.

'stoo bad, really.

i hear they pay jurors a pretty penny.

True: $12.50 for half a day (which is what today counts as) --- and $40/day or $20/half-day for days after the first, if you get picked to serve. Plus they validate. (Parking, not [necessarily] sense of self.) It does make me not resent quite so having had to use my own 39¢ stamp.

Baltimore paid $10 a day with no free parking (and less-than-ideal public transport). Of course that was a few years ago.

You only get paid in Howard County if you are taking unpaid leave from work to serve. But the parking's free. And the bailiff brought donuts and good coffee every day.

how did you know you had last worn the shirt in July of 2002?
