this post falls under celebrity gossip, mostly, but it's about fat too

Star Jones is off that TV show, "The View." Rosie O'Donnell is going to be on it starting in the fall, and they have bad blood between 'em, one is given to understand. Now Rosie is kind of a dweeb, let's face it, but she's still fat, and she's out, and I like fat & openly lezbo, vs. sickly skinny from mutilation surgery you're not admitting, any day. That TV is in any way backing that preference makes me want to think Star Jones wasn't in hot water, or thought to be less palatable, for being a mouthy woman of color.

I am such a total dweeb . . .

. . . that I didn't know that Star Jones was leaving The View or that she'd become skinny or that Rosie O'Donnell was going to be on that show. The only bit of info that I already knew was that Rosie is fat and openly lesbian.

I'll bet that the young women in my office know all about it--they poke fun at me for not being up on celebrity gossip.

So what is the reason that's being given for Star Jones's departure?

I don't think a reason is being given. But the link from Google News said she'd jumped the gun on leaking word of the planned fall departure by announcing it on-air, and the next day she was off the air & her name out of the credits, and I guess Baba Wawa said something indicating that they'd given her time to look for a job (as if those folks can't go a few months without income!) and that she'd chosen not to be dignified about it. Or words to that effect.

Kinda funny I follow TV-related news but almost never watch TV that's not on DVDs.

That is funny. I hardly watch TV anymore. When the new season of Law & Order starts, I'll watch that, I suppose. I wish Murder, She Wrote was still on, now that I'm old. I'm not old enough to be into Matlock, though, which I know is on in syndication.

well, guess `Star's' contract wasn't renewed - and she just thought
that meant she was `fired'. her announcement was a shock to Barbara
Walters - it was going to be announced later in the week that she
wasn't coming back...the talk has been that Star was the bad seed
of the group, and the viewers didn't like her (i think she looks
terrible now). I like Rosie, too. but I never watch it, unless I'm
home sick, or at home during the day (which isn't often) [this was all
on the news last night]

Hey, I for one am quite glad to be me, vs. Rosie OR Star. :] But I'm also quite pleased to have your stewardship for the little fellas.

Must say, though: this is hardly a big road trip. I consider it a zippy jaunt. And me, thus, a zippy jaunter.
