daily box

When I'm substituting in the proofing of the daily box (MR folk know what I'm talking about here, but for the rest of you it means, among other things, that I'm looking at lots of first pages of journal articles), I am especially hard-hit by the desire to name a dog. There are great names out there. Svetlozar. I mean, c'mon. That's a great name.

Siegwart.

Nadejda; Dmitrii; Rapha\"el. Ujjayant.

Ezra Ted Newman.

JunJian. Zuojin.

Toby.

I swear I could be overwhelmed by all these names if I let myself. It's heady stuff. I canna tell you why.

Lucy. That's Jeff's name choice for your dog (I think I told you that.) Or Hambone.

I had a Lucy in the box, actually, and thought of his recommendation.

All pets at my house: first name "Chester", nickname "Hambone" (e.g., Chester Chester Pester "Hambone" "Chet the Pet" Nichols)

Choose a name you're willing to yell at the top of your lungs repeatedly if you have to (although trainers will tell you that's NOT the way to get your errant dog to come back). My dog's name was prechosen: Birdie.

You don't see me yelling "Ezra Ted Newman! Ezra Ted Newman!" ??
