a few things

•  Maybe I'll be a lesbian some more after all.

•  It is mandatory at my workplace that I designate someone as my "contact person" (presumably in case I drop dead at the office or some such). I am thinking of:
→  some random neighbor I've met maybe once  (funny?)
→  Annie Lennox  (she just popped into my mind)
→  actually trying to come up with someone serious
Apparently I need a phone number, too, dang it. Cuts down my options considerably.

•  Q.  What does Google suggest one meant to search for when one searches for "Chessiedoodle"?
    A.  "cheese doodle"
(I could go for either.)

Annie Lennox is cool!

I have that same problem! Not with emergency contact information, because for that I name my parents. But my old workplace makes me name someone that my pension whould go to in the event of my death. And I really don't want to name my parents for that because they'll almost certainly be dead by then so naming them would just be needlessly sparing my evil former workplace from having to pay any money. And anyway my approximately 25 cents per month pension would be worthless to my parents because they have a lot more than that of their own. So what I really want is to find someone really really young and really really poor, who might actually appreciate receiving 25 cents a month in pension payments starting 25 years from now, in case I were to die and couldn't receive them myself. But I have never been really satisfied with any of my choices. I think I may forever be searching for someone younger and poorer.

I'm not so young, but I'm poor enough to take your pension.

It's also possible to leave things to your estate, and then they go to who you name in your will and your will can name an organization, not a person. Even though the forms have "First/Last Name" under "Beneficiary", you just write in "Estate."

if what you're looking for is an emergency contact person, and not a receiver of your 'estate', by all means use me if you like:)

Thank you, D! I'll let you know if you'll be called about my demise.

I have an "estate"! That's funny to think about. I guess I do.

I spent some time at nolo.com yesterday trying to garner the scope of getting one's ducks in a row as a solitary sort. I'd consulted them for how to protect yourselves as an illicit couple a while back but never did any wills or contracts or instructions about medical care or anything.
