fflo... I just signed up for 12 addresses from the Michigan Get out the Vote list at https://www.activateamerica.vote/postcards , which I found through https://www.dosomethingnow.us/, which I found in some comments to a Washington Post article I was reading cuzza the afore-mentioned anxiety. You know, election anxiety.
So I'll be doing more than one postcard-of-the-day, since these should go out ASAP but no later than 10/20. Started to ask for 20, but I can always go back & get more.
There's a letter writing thing too---interestingly in at least the Michigan version of that, the targets are largely younger voters, and it's interesting to thing of using an old-person mode (letters, the oldie-est of the snail mail options) to reach them. Novelty, at least, yes?
Haven't decided yet whether to join some folks for The Outrun today, which is apparently mediocre as a film but with gorgeous views of Orkney and a captivating performance by Saoirse Ronan wow that's a lot of vowels no wonder it's hard to spell. Of in-the-theater films, I'd rather catch Saturday Night. I like the idea of getting out, as it's a long weekend for me, and the temptation to take it easy physically is strong.
Was tickled to see, looking ahead on my calendar, that my next knee shots will be late this month, not next month. I had that wrong in my head.
My Orioles were knocked out in the first round of the postseason, AGAIN, this year. So I guess I don't have to plan these weeks around catching baseball games, anyway. A small rally in self-care chops seems to be upon me, and is much needed. Let's build that spark & nurse that kindling,fflo.
I suppose the going to the movies, whichever, and maybe doing another thing or two while out, could be a form of anti-anxiety doing too. It's supposed to start raining later today, too, and then be rainy and cold, after a sunny & very warm yesterday, so I'm thinking get off the computer, get properly dressed, and get out.
At least I have well more than 12 postcards in the house I could send to strangers about please vote. But I can do that inside when the weather turns.
