finished principal shooting yesterday
Aug. 7th, 2022 06:56 pmIt was really hot out, but I thought it'd be raining all day the next few days, and even if I'd known the rain would be skirting us most of today, it's bloody hot today too. I just had the opening title to film, but that was the hardest shot to get, on accounta the time-lapse aspect.
See, I'm making a 60-second-or-less movie to enter in the library's tiny film festival. My film is to be titled, and will answer several times in one minute, one of the fundamental questions of cinema: What Am I Lookin' At?
I'm at the libary right now, where it's not exactly very cool, but beats the outside air. Stopped earlier at the library's LEGO contest, which was packed & a-hoppin', in a meeting room at a hotel near the mall. Lots kids around. I really liked a realistic-lookin' disc golf goal, about life size (and thus on a totally different scale from most), with the chains managing to look like chains. That one might win its age category. But I really have a soft spot for the super-simple in these contests, in which most entrants go the opposite route. So see two beautifully simple ones here:
Still have to do the payroll and a few other chore-type things today. But want to clear some stuff off my phone, and off this old Mac, before seeing if I can back up to the former to the latter without running into memory limits. I think a new Mac is in my near future. Would seriously consider an iMac if the new MacBook Air weren't so much schnazzier, and likely to "last" longer.
Whenever I do that, the actual old luggage tags and the case they're attached to will go from case to wall art. My idea is to draw the apple shape and color it in.

I bought a bunch of cool old luggage tags from a person who used to sell them on the postcard auction site I frequented until the guy died and his son shut it down. These were my faves. The others are still waiting for when I get around, if I get around, to decoupaging 'em to my dresser drawer fronts.
Oops, I lost a bunch of text here, accidentally paging back on the browser window. Guess the lj backups aren't as frequent as they used to be. But just as well. I talked about the coming weather (it's gonna get a lot better soon) and the annoying teenagers loudly yakking in the meeting room next to where I'm sitting, and then about having the film to work on, and how much I like that. That was the only point worth repeating.
It's got to do with how I can spend hours and hours editing my little pieces together, lost in it and content. And there's some icing on the Zen cake there in that there's zero pressure from outside me to get it just so. I can get it just exactly as much like I like it as I like. That adds a sort of purity to the thing that seems key to maximizing the space for joy.
