[PLUTARCH, OF MAN'S PROGRESS {IN VIRTUE}]

ANTIPHANES SAID MERRILY THAT IN A CERTAIN CITY THE COLD WAS SO INTENSE THAT WORDS WERE CONGEALED AS SOON AS SPOKEN BUT THAT AFTER SOME TIME THEY THAWED AND BECAME AUDIBLE SO THAT WORDS SPOKEN IN WINTER WERE ARTICULATED IN SUMMER

Until this temperate climate (those who sweat the summer up here notwithstanding) I've always felt as if I'm coming alive again in autumn. I feel the life force of my physiognomy more the colder it is---my heat stands in contrast to the air around me, a bonfire of being in the hostile frozen world.

this makes sense -- i remember this being the case when i lived in tx. the brainfry was as bad as the brainfreeze here, if not worse. i like autumn myself, only i don't always notice the 17 minutes of its duration over here.
