When is that "fall back" thing?
Sep. 9th, 2005 12:58 amI know the Bushies moved it back in some provision of the (corporate) energy (pork) bill. I'm hardly ready for dark at 5 p.m., but I sure could use that free/"do-over" hour about now.
I'm staying up awful late these days for a workin' womon.
Of course last night it meant I got to see the end of that tennis match---Agassi v. Blake. Exciting stuff, even though it's kinda hard to see the ball on the one channel I pull in next to the computer. (The one channel not counting the crystal-clear 24/7 christian channel.)
I so don't want to go to bed. I want more amorphous suspended middle-of-the-night illusion of an eternity of self-directed lollygagging.

Date: Sep. 9th, 2005 03:33 pm (UTC)I might not be so pissed off about the stupidity of DST if it weren't for the fact that we live in what should be the central time zone, so we are already getting 60% daylight time anyway.
I actually like light in the morning, as it makes getting up natural instead of torture. And I think that night in the evening is cool, because you can look at stars and plantets and stuff.
Daylignt time is just a way for the government to force you out of bed an hour early. The "energy savings" is a load of crap. As far as I can tell it's a conspiracy of golf course owners and alarm-clock makers at the expense of the general public.
I grew up in southwest michigan, which is in the Eastern time zone, but belongs in Central. our clocks were already 45 minutes off from solar time for that reason. When they add daylight time, the clocks are almost two hours off from nature. IT's just stupid.
I'll add that I *do* rant about this to my students when I teach about systems of time, and will elaborate on the stupidity of the "energy" bill that threw this crap in to give the illusion about doing something about energy usage.
Bastards.
