I just opened the painting!
It looks SO good. I can't believe she did what she did with oil. It's smoother on the surface than I thought it would be.
There was so much careful packing material---really built the anticipation. No wire for hanging it, though. Now I'm putting the other (many) things on my list for today below acquiring what I need to hang it. I do want to look at it close up more before I put it on the wall, but right now I have it shut in a room where the cats can't get too curious about it (tho they're currently busy looking out an open window I'm letting them have).
Speaking of art, yesterday I went to see The French Dispatch. It was great. The movie and the whole going to see it and the wandering around in the heart of town I did afterwards (4:30 is an excellen movie showtime), but most of all the way I've gotten to this point in life where I can go see what Wes Anderson's been up to and just relish it.
Now I've gotta head out to buy art-hanging wire. Wonder if the hook I've got the cheesy print on is going to be strong enough. Not only is this painting on a board, but it's frame is heavy wood.
So exciting. :D
