This card's from a little jaunt I took with my ol' pal visiting from back east, Laura. What I wrote, plus a pic of me in the mentioned newsstand,  here:

One coworker, during the routing around the dept, post-it--questioned K-zoo's having any little pockets of the exotic.

I remember my dad bringing magazines home from Louie's Pipe Shop. I wonder if it was the same place.

I was born in Kalamazoo, and while I lived in the neighboring bedroom community of Portage, we often went downtown. Much of the cool stuff is gone now, of course. But I think the madhouse tower is still standing.

As a kid, I thought it would be so cool to live in the little "house" on top of the tower. It would be a great supervillain's lair.

Yeah. But I'm not so sure you'd make a great supervillain. :D
