I don't mind, because it's great. Barstow is one of those towns where it seems every traveler has stopped to eat overpriced junk food and buy useless trinkets. Kind of a shit hole but somehow that makes it weirdly appealing to me. Railroad junctions, truck stops, greyhound stops... The seedy heart of America.
Oh, it might be! I thought it felt like maybe I'd posted it. But there were no hits on the uploaded file, which is how I generally know. I bet I just uploaded it twice, and was looking at the copy I hadn't linked to.
I have a general penchant for cards (and souvenirs) that commemorate the getting-there part of the trip--- like the structure of a trip, or something strangely self-referential--- I'm not describing it well. But yeah, I'm with you on the seedy dirty nuts-and-bolts regular-folk grungy on-the-ground world. Plus the faded glory of the old celebrated highway system(s).
Also Barstow in among the cities named in "Route 66".
