Postcard of the Day
Jun. 23rd, 2024 11:12 pmLast night of the Cinetopia Film Fest. Tired. Happy. Sore. Took a bit of a tumble last night, so it's not just the film-going sore. Will I get the trash out tonight, or let it pile up for 2 weeks, in the heat of the early summer? Well at least the temps have gone down a bit.
Lotsa people and people-in-movies stories I could share from this stretch. Good to see lots of people. Interact with lots of people.
Ate one of the good painkillers tonight, and sure doesn't seem like it matters if the trash goes out. Like, I could just be sure to scoop the litter box and then so what if I take out trash tomorrow, or the next day, only to have it sit in the bin in the heat for a week? I'll only have to smell it once or twice, when adding new trash to it before the next pick-up.
I may actually go to bed early. Like, after the Astros finish sweeping the O's, unless there's a remarkable top of the 9th. I mean, last night the O's rallied insanely, in another of those really high-scoring games they've been in a few of lately. They won the series against the Yankees, so thanks, baseball goddess, for that, and I'm not complaining.
The Astros have a pitcher (first-)named Framber. The A's have a third baseperson (first-)named Aledmys. I like a catcher (first-)named Adley. But not for his name, primarily.
Gotta finish my festival diary. But not tonight.
Fave films from it:
Monster (dir. Kore-eda Hirokazu, 2024)
Janet Planet (dir. Annie Baker, 2023)
The Queen of My Dreams (dir. Fawzia Mirza, 2023)
Girls Will Be Girls (dir. Shuchi Talati, 2024)
We Strangers (dir. Anu Valia, 2024
