electrician done! toes could be worse!
May. 7th, 2024 04:45 pmChorusmates dropped a section of the risers on my toes last night, and they hurt a ton for a while, so I worried they might be massively bruised, maybe broken, and inhibit my nice post-injections walking. But today they're swollen, and walking on that heel isn't too bad. AND the on-call electrician came, and was great. In addition to the power surge repairs, I got a whole-house surge protector installed. Cuz the for-profit power company is really bad about maintenance around here. They're, like, notorious.
Speaking of, this past weekend I lopped up & got rid of a several hundred bucks' worth of the branches they cut down, to judge by the quotes I've gotten for hiring someone to do it. A small start, but a start. And no one dies if I just have brush piles outside. Which I probably will, cuz in a couple of weeks my knees will be shot again until the next shot gives me a shot at decent mobility.
Speaking of shots, no word yet on the motive for the big drive-by down the street, but we know the cops don't think it was random. We're not used to this level of gun violence around here, but it's happening more and more. You know, "regular" gun violence, as opposed to mass shootings. Not used to those either, happily.
I think I'm feeling up to trying on some glasses--- have an eye exam soon. So exciting to have the electrical work done. Lights working all over. Just haven't replaced the one floor lamp yet.
Have brought up a lot of stuff from the basement, mostly related to making room for the glass block guys. A pal might want a lot of this fabric for the Ren Faire group he's with; I guess they make their own outfits. Also the nearby thrift does take fabric, so long as it's not scraps. And patterns. There's still a ton of sewing stuff down there. Among the many things I've not gone through.
Having the kitchen counters all clean and clear cuzza making way for the electrician: nice. The second visit for the oven is next. Feels like I can actually feel the progress now. Once I get my insurance claim in, I'm gonna deserve some reward from myself. Will have to think somethin' up.
