The top photo is also the "8.5-day" moon taken through the Yerkes telescope, and kinda looks like the very same photo.  As [profile] peteralway points out when showing celestial bodies, what's up, or the top, is relative.  And what you're looking at is upside-down, from the earthling perspective.

Directions are relative on earth, too, but we're naturally enough in general agreement about "up".
