Rotated and enhanced for reading:

Looks like Chicago is the wicked city.

I happen to work very close to Seventh Street, so walked over yesterday to try to find where the card was sent to.  There is no 408 N. Seventh now, and it looks like there never was, so unless the numbering has changed, this card was sent to the left-entrance part of this house:

But the next house down is 422, so maybe there was another home in the middle.

Thanks to our public library's archiving of a 2002 article from a local monthly rag, I just found that the part just north of where this house is didn't used to be Seventh at all, at least.

Among the west side's numbered streets, Seventh stands out for both its length (more than two miles, from Miller to Scio Church and beyond) and the startling jog it takes as it crosses Huron. Both reflect its growth in the years following Maynard's original plat. Originally the stretch from West Liberty to West Huron was named Jewett Street, while the dogleg continuing north to Miller was Mann Street, named for the family of Jonathan Henry Mann, the patriarch of the Old West Side's German community. Jewett and Mann were both absorbed into Seventh after being connected up with the original portion south of Liberty in 1891.

So that confirms that it wasn't on what's now North Seventh.  Seems like the 400s part likely remains accurate, though I could do further research.  For now, I think the card went to that house.

And now, here's where you can see the groovy front of the card. )

And that's today's entry in Message Week here at PotD.
