Looks like Starnes isn't dead.
Feb. 13th, 2022 01:51 pmI tried to call her today, years since we've talked, but got a robo-machine. So took my heart in my hands and looked online to see if she's alive. She seems to be.
I also found her IMDb page, and found a couple of movies she was in, that I'd never known about. Sure enough, one is on YouTube, and one is streamable.
After I saw her turn in the first one, as a comestology teacher with a southern accent, I decided I'd see if I could raise a couple of my old buds who also knew her, and one of whom, like me, was in a movie (of mine) with her. Cuz we're 2 degrees of separation from a bunch of movie people, including James Earl Jones, and almost surely a mere Kevin Bacon 3. Sure nuff, I talked to each of them on the phone for a good bit.
They're so familiar to me. It was good.
Somewhere I have a videocassette version of my old movie, made by projecting the film and playing the cassette-tape soundtrack at the same time. I must still have the film itself & the old cassette, too. Shouldn't be that hard to get a digital version from the videotape, anyway. For that matter, I have a bunch of video of a trip several of us made to South of the Border, to buy "good" fireworks, one year. Turned out that Virginia and North Carolina also had good fireworks, so the following-through all the way to our planned destination was maybe a little silly. But it'd be interesting to see that footage again. Maybe make something of it.
