That place looks awesome. Searching now it all seems much less rustic - lots of big ol' holiday homes getting rented out for a few hundred per night. There still seem to be some gift shops and small diners in the area judging by the Google street view, but none that are open like that.

I remember the little made-in-Japan cedar boxes, and the shot glasses for the nearby national park. Not from that one, but somewhere.
