finally got back on the horse of the bathroom project. the most onerous parts are done, unless sanding goes poorly. i would like to take this opportunity to thank self-adhesive fiberglass mesh tape for existing and coming to my attention:

yesterday i hid a penny in the wild. a 1974d. the "d" means it was minted in denver. if i'm alive in the spring i'm gonna go back and retrieve it.
