That's the first word of the snippet of Gary Snyder left on the fridge for me by LA, who was reading his essays while she was here, sometimes in the hours she was up before me or L.

"Meanwhile" is a helluva word. It brings context to the line, for me, from me. And "meanwhile" pretty much is context.

Almost the full moon---it lacks but an hour, in the old way of speaking. Let's crest already, I say. Jesus Hambone Christ.
