good Friday?
Apr. 9th, 2004 11:51 amWell, here 'tis, my last day at the T. household. This a.m. Jeff & I (and both his folks---Dad decided to stay home today after all) opened his Pandora's box all the way, letting out (among other things) 4 monster finger puppets (from the Jefferson Mark-up). We joked that they were all the scary things Pandora let loose, like greed, hunger, disease, Bush, Dick, Condi, Rumsfeld, and (according to Mom the scariest of all) Ashcroft. We'd just reviewed the Pandora story, too, and Jeffrey can probably tell it now on his own; I'm hoping he'll include the parts about the politicos. (Who should be Hope, the consolation the gods threw in? moveon.org?)
Jeffrey now has both the original lock on the "box" (it's actually a lunchbag)---with possession of its key, up until this morning available only from Auntie Lisa, who wore it on a string around her neck all week---and a combination padlock t'boot. He can lock stuff up now. Like all the little Pandora's Box gees-gaw Auntie Lisa (in the role of the Gods) has been meting out all week. Your own lock is a fun thing when you're just 5.
Last night I went over to spy B.'s. We went out to dinner & then watched Survivor & then talked. He suggests his agency (did I mention he's a spy?) as a possible place of employment for me, who likes working with strange people. I was somewhat surprised that he would think I could be hired there. He asked why. I said because I'm a subversive. He said I'd be surprised. We talked about the issues involved at some length.
Tell me: is it possible I'm not sufficiently subversive as to be unable to pass the security clearance for the NSA?

Now to pack up stuff & wrap up things here (there's some tension in the household today) & head down to
sprig5's. Then off to Winchester tomorrow and the road home.
