never as black or white as you think

Apparently there is a certain consensus regarding my grey matter. Or is it gray matter. I think both are acceptable; I can't seem to pick a preference. Which do you prefer?

Looks as if so far you're the only "gray." Unless you count my 1/2 a "gray."

At the heart of my publishing empire are the little drawings of rocketships I do. They give dimensions and colors for modelers. And I always spell "grey" "grey." "Gray" looks too shiny and colorful for a color like grey. I've had one reader complain about using the English spelling.

I only use other British spellings, like "colour" and "programme" in speech. I had been accidentally using the English spelling for "acknowledgements" because I happened to have an English book handdy when I was checking the spelling, thought. Changed it to the 'murrican "acknowledgments" for the latest book. I do get a chuckle out of orders from English customers addressed to "Ann Arbour."

Saying "Peter Alway" with an affected upper-crusty Brit accent is kinda fun.

As long as you don't add any extra letters to my last name, I'm happy.

oh, and...

I could even call it my "far-flung publishing empire," since [livejournal.com profile] trollhagen still has some books and posters stored in her basement.

i really like the 'greigh'. because it's really more icky sounding, which i think in general grey/grey is. but if i had to choose a regular spelling, i choose grey, because 'gray' is too close to 'gay' which equates 'happy' which grey is not.

i like grey. i believe it's due to my disdain (here's to peter) for gray. which does not look right under any circumstances. i hate colour, but love neighbour. i also prefer theatre, to theater but think it's because i can hear the president of my undregraduate college saying THEE-ater, and it makes me want to claw out my ears.
as for the color i think in, exactly what color is regret?
