Hee. No, she played herself. The B-story on that episode was that Rachel and Ross, while dating one another, each came up with a list of five celebrities that they'd hypothetically give each other permission to have sex with outside the relationship, and Ross wound up crossing Isabella off his list as number six. Then she came into the coffeeshop, and Ross was disappointed because she was no longer on the list, but Rachel, knowing that he's a dork with no chance, told him to go ahead and go for it anyway. So, like many other premises on Friends, it was a really contrived story that nonetheless led to a truly hilarious and awkward scene where Ross stammeringly approaches her and explains that he has permission to sleep with her... It sounds like really lame stunt casting, but she gets off some pretty sharp lines and it's a nice, fun scene.
I am an unapologetic Friends dork, incidentally. In case you hadn't picked up on that...
Ah... I think I wasn't watching TV when Friends started, and then I was confused about the characters, watching it in reruns out of order. Maybe I should queue it up.
It was while I was IMDbing Groucho Marx, to line up the Marx Bros movies in chronological order for myself (why doesn't Netflix give us such a sorting option?), that Isabella jumped off the page at me. She bears a rather striking resemblance to that someone I used to know.
Yeah---it's like that, isn't it. You can imagine how I jumped seeing her face out the blue like that, on a weekend during which she was kinda spiritually following me around again.
I know it's probably happening cuzza some mundane matters I can hang it on, but I can't help but think about it in a "woo-woo" kinda way.
