I do like the idea. I don't think I remember the original enough to remake the plot though. I think the soundtrack in teresting possibilities. David Cassidy singing cowboy songs, perhaps?

I can't really contribute to that one, but I feel that this is the most appropriate place to share my breakthrough vision (that I had when I first heard that ben stiller was remaking starsky and hutch):

Cagney & Lacey. Rosie and Ellen. No? That movie was meant for them!

If Rosie & Ellen do Cagney & Lacey: The Movie, they could, in one project, earn absolution for Mr. Wrong (Ellen's "comedy" about stalking) and the recent TV movie in which Rosie apparently hammed it up as a mentally challenged woman who loved to ride the bus. (I suppose I shouldn't talk about the latter, not having seen it, but c'mon... surely some amends are needed there.)

Plus if they played C&L as lovers, they could have their closetiness washed away like so many minor traffic violations... (so my religious metaphors are a little weak now & then)

I had to look up the quotation! I saw part of the movie on TV not too long ago, but other than that it'd been since not too long after it came out, when I wasn't old enough to follow what was going on, let alone remember much about movies.

I think one of my most significant mental retardations is a slowness to develop memory skills. Either that or I really did have some reason to block out most of my childhood.

No way, man. Not lovers! It's a schlocky hollywood-dyke buddy movie if ever I've thought one up. I was in part inspired by the way rosie used to have penny marshall on her show, which somehow wedged its way into my unconscious...

Okay, okay. But maybe Cagney can at least exchange some lusty looks with a witness to a crime, and Lacey can have had some implied hot nookie with a character who speaks no lines ... ? I guess what I'm saying is that sub-sub-subtext isn't enough for me any more. No Fried Green Thelma & Lou for me no mo'.

Ugh, no subtext. I think they will have to in some sense "compete" for the attention of some hot "lady" they're both after, and one will respectfully back off when things don't work out and the other 2 are, after all, made for each other.
