crap! wasted work

Just read through the e-mail & found that the fella I'm doing freelance for got a bee in his bonnet today & decided to finish a section I was in the middle of doing. Sent me an e-mail alerting me to the bonnet bee around midday as he was beginning to forge ahead, but by the time I saw it a good hunk o' text I'd tediously prepped to upload was already on the site. Counting the 45 minutes I'd spent this afternoon on it, that means about 3.5 hours of work I did was wasted, having been duplicated by him.

We're getting toward the end of the construction of the site, at least basically, so I've known this source of supplemental income would be ending soon. Should make it easier to let go here, I know. But there's something that's getting my goat, or sticking in my craw, or some expression along those there lines, about the mindless boring time at the keyboard I spent for $11/hr but no real use.

(The guy who's paying me to do the gig isn't the guy who's in charge of the thing.)

Ah, well. Guess it means I can go catch up on the last several days of ljland. I'll bop in later to tell of houseguest, perhaps, if I'm not at the pool already.

TORNADO WATCH out there, btw, folks!

Well it's not out of maliciousness or anything that D did it---he just wasn't thinking, I guess, that I might have done a good hunk of work on that section. He's not terribly well-versed in how these things work. Looks like I'm going to be going back and cleaning up a few places he didn't quite know what to do...

Oh, yeah. Or he will. (I report the hours once a month.) Actually, he isn't the one paying me. It's another guy. Long story.
