i love how so many of the old ones are addressed to "addressee, city, state", without even a street. and i really appreciated all the space-related ones around the anniversary of the moon landing.

I know what you mean about those old simple addresses. Another funny postcard phenom, by contemporary standards, is when someone in, say, Philly, would write someone in NYC about some plans for the next day and ask for a response. Turns out there used to be morning and afternoon mail in some big cities, and such a thing was quite possible.
