I was never into the Gerry Anderson stuff as a kid, but I vividly remember the opening credits to his "Fireball XL-5" which I thought was the coolest outerspace thing ever when I was knee-high to a colorful expression. His other stuff never made it to my local airwaves, and retrospectively, boy does it look cheezy!

Wow, here's the start of Fireball XL-5. Nowhere near as cool as I remember it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-yKFrI7KDxc

For young Peter the rocket stuff alone was probably something, no? Plus the idea of riding flying scooters wherever you want to go. Even if you have to have a weird expression on your face the whole time! And there are (spoiler alert!) strings attached.... (hahaha)

I was *very* young when I saw that show. I had to be told later that it involved puppets. But I was really enamored of that multiple-rocket spaceship launch. In retrospect, I probably remember an older brother playing at that launch with a spaceship made from American Bricks (A lego knockoff from the early 60's) rather than much of the show itself.
