But I was thinking more of a living human/ghost buddy movie scenario. That would be so much more fun. It could be a 1960's sitcom up there with Mr. Ed, My Favorite Martian, and I dream of Jeanie.

I guess the dead or supernatural one in those pairings IS the one having more fun. But I don't wanna sign up for getting yelled at, a la Major Nelson. Larry Hagman routinely lost his voice doing that part. And Bill Bixby also didn't seem to enjoy having Ray Walston around. Are you sure you're into being the straight man?

Maybe Willl-burrrr had more fun. I can't remember much about him.

I always felt that Major Nelson totally missed the point. I guess stories require conflict, and if he had appreciated what he had, the whole thing would have reached "happily ever after" at the end of the first episode.

I guess the thing is, the story would have to be the live person and the ghost on the same side against the world, and not that whole normal human trying to cover up the amazing friend.

Imagine Major Nelson and Jeannie fending off an alien invasion...or preventing WW III. Not Major Nelson trying to keep hi flight status when Jeannie is being Jeannie.

As Hank Hill used to say on King of the Hill (an animated show it's a shame if you didn't see), taste the meat, not the heat!

I've seen a few episodes of King of the Hill (I know Hank is a propane salesman, and the kid seems to fail to live up to expectations of Texas masculinity). But that quote didn't show up in any of the episodes I saw.

I found something unlikeable about the characters and drawing style of the show (like awkward drawings of a high school art student who was trying really hard to be realistic, but came off-balance), so I never watched beyond episodes I stumbled into.
