My first reaction is that a bus can't get you to an island, and if you're already on the island, you don't have to specify that it's an island bus.

I'm told that Valles Marineris, the big canyon on Mars, was named for the Mariner 9 spacecraft that discovered it. Then some linguist came along and pointed out that it didn't mean "Mariner valley" but "marinated valley."
