got the place to myself for the weekend

And I mean to myself---not so much as a houseplant alive in there 'sides me. Weird.

Must do taxes.

Don't bother to see Melinda and Melinda unless you really like to see everything Woody does.

You need a fish.

Will Farrell's not good?

[identity profile] fflo.livejournal.com 2005-04-08 07:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, uh... no. He's doing a bad (if understated) impression of Woody half the time. And everybody's timing seems to be off in parts intended to be comic.

But I _did_ fall asleep for a few in the middle, so perhaps he was brilliant in a scene I dozed through.

Heh. Good to know... the only reason I even considered seeing it was to see if he could handle a half-serious role.

Gee, I'be been living like that just fine for months...(well, at least since M took the post-bloom remains of the potted daffodils you brought to the Old Bulb's Home.

It took a while to get used to house noises that I had assumed were rabbit sounds but weren't, though.

What about your kitty?

I haven't been able to watch anything Woody Allen does since he seduced and then married Soon-Yi Previn.

Kitty's away for a long weekend at the vet's.

I usually like Woody's stuff so much I've found a way not to think about him personally and that ugly business. Easier since he's not been in his own films so much, fer sure.

I hope kitty is having a good visit with the vet.

I tend not to be interested in the lives of celebrities unless I end up surrounded by people having a conversation about one or more, or if celebs give lots of their money to good causes, get involved as activists, etc... I'm sure there are artists, musicians, etc.... that I like who have done some really crappy things, but ignorance is bliss.

I've seen lots of discussions about separating someone's art from their personal life. Somehow, I can't seem to do that, and I haven't seen or heard a convincing argument. I'm certainly open to being convinced.

Oh crap. Didn't I tell you, though? Will Ferrell *shudder*. Disappointing, nonetheless.

I hope all goes well with Chet. Go do your taxes.

I meant to tell you that I was surprised that the B'more City Paper reviewer really liked the film. Said it was Woody's best in years--although Brian thought that wasn't sayin' much. I was surprised because I had already heard a bit of your reaction to the movie, including the fact that it couldn't keep you awake--I think of that as a comment on the film just as much as a comment on your level of tiredness.
