Red Emma's

Look what I found in my old neighborhood in B'more, via the nifty Delocator:

Red Emma's

Seems it's a new incarnation of the old Black Planet bookstore in Fells Point. (Click on the pic for more, Baltimorons.) (Okay, there are a.s. no residents of Baltimore reading this journal, so maybe one of the rest of you oughta click it. [livejournal.com profile] vjsmom?)

Ooh, gonna have to check that out next time I'm in town! R&I have this bad habit of getting to his mom's and then just staying there or going over to S's in Randallstown. We need to get more out and about in next time.

I think it mighta been a laundromat at one point. But it seems to me Douggie took me 'n' H to a cafe over that way, or an upscale cheese/coffee place? I dunno. Looked kinda precious to survive for long. Maybe this place is where that place was.

It looks very cool. There's an equally hip, if more working class looking, bookstore in Brattleboro called Everyone's Books. It doesn't have a website, or I'd link. Very socialist. Lots of cool stuff.

Oh! You know B'boro? I used to work at Everyone's Books.

I don't know it as well as I'd like (haven't been there to hang out in over a year now), but yeah! I live about 45 minutes away. Cool town, and I love Everyone's Books. When did you work there?

For a very short period, on weekends, probably between 1987 and 1990. I used to live in an apartment behind the bookstore when I first hit Brattleboro. I loved being able to walk to the co-op (I also worked there), the Latchis, the Common Ground (I worked there too), etc...

You were there quite a while before I got to VT. Didn't move here till 2003. B-boro is a cool walking town.
