See, I decided a while ago to make my bed every day, with the strong stipulation that making it badly is okay. Soon I realized that making it badly is better, cuz then I get a made bed PLUS a judgment-free interaction with self. An episode of anti-perfectionism practice. Dig?

I'm on night two of setting out to write in the paper journal daily for a fortnight. Am
tired and will likely scribble semi-unintelligibly. I think I'd like to meet a higher standard in writings there than the minimum. And here I am, avoiding it until I'm exhausted.

I was exhausted at 10 a.m.

Things are good, tho.

I can't imagine not making the bed. We were "trained" as small children to always make the bed...or else! Getting out of the bed to make it seems to be my problem.

And another bit of trivia: Badly made beds (crumpled up covers) air a lot better than made beds. So it's healthier to not even make a bed at all.

I read this after years of just closing the bedroom door behind me but I think it's a perfect excuse for not changing that habit :)

The bed sounds like a case of perfect being the enemy of good enough. I've been better about remembering that than I once was.

I hate making the bed. HATE it. But I force myself to do it every day. My mom raised us to make the bed first thing in the morning and it just stuck. I wish I could not care and leave it.

I use to make sure I made it nicely everyday but now I'm with you that badly is ok too. There is just something I like about slipping into a made bed at night. Maybe it's the joy of messing something up.
