Why is it, d'ya s'pose, that I have little to no interest in baseball this year? I suppose it may kick in later, with rooting against the Yankees in the Series or something, but so far, eh. I couldn't even name who's in the playoffs. You'd think this year I'd be getting into it. I'm starting to feel like I'm in a fog again.

Can't seem to get after the basic domestic tasks this week---laundry, dishes. I've been having spurts at doing well at that, too. I did cook for myself a little, but in general it's not been the best week. Feeling kinda isolated in the world, somehow.

And where are all you lj people? Not as many posts from the "friends" who are friends---a high percentage feeds of cartoons and news-y/political stuff. Is there some kinda bloggy sloggy downturn going on? (Exceptions noted---and appreciated.)

Not dealing with the stove yet. Maybe tomorrow. Oh, but now driving workmate's wife's sister to the airport tomorrow night. Workmate still in ICU, after some complications.

Watched some "Freaks And Geeks" on DVD tonight. Good show, but depressing to look at somehow, just now. H. loved the show, yeah, but I don't think that's it. Maybe it doesn't hold up to repeat viewing? Even that delightfully geeky, lippy smile/grin of morose-faced Bill, the kid with glasses---it's barely moving my heart. I've got a Marx Bros movie in the wings, but tonight I'm nowhere near manic (or even present) enough for it to have the effect the Bros had on Woody's character in Hannah. Dammit.

Wonder how much of this is the down side of caffeine abuse cycling.

Did have a postcard from dear ones. Maybe a trip soon.

sorry i've been out of the lj thing lately... as you know i've had some health issues-- headaches mostly. as of two days ago, i have been put on migraine drugs and i feel as dopey as Geo W Bush (well, not quite, I guess)--but at least I am starting to feel as though I might have some hope of living life without headaches every day again.

i should write this on my own page....i'll copy it there.

the drugs are topamax, an antiseizure drug, and relpax, which you take when you have a headache in progress.

i was reading this site called "crazymeds" on topamax-- this guy wrote: you might as well give up sodas now, because they will start tasting like butt once you're on topamax. he also warned that they might as well call it "dopamax" for the effects it can have on you--some of which i've noticed in the past few days, esp. at work! he also said "give up the bean (coffee)," but i didn't catch why. probably because it too will start to taste like butt.

and this "bisexual piscean egyptologist" has her own blog and takes topomax, relpax and a host of other for migraine, so maybe i am on the right track after all. her experience sounds familar too

I have also spent a good deal of time writing letters to purportedly undecided women voters in FL, WA, and now OH (although one FL woman wrote back to me concerned that i didn't know God even though "God knows you, Sara"...and telling me that she was going to vote for God's candidate, the one against "gays marriage").

I should perhaps say that I wouldn't likely remember, or have noted so well to begin with, Maja's scaling Mount Lisa with her matter-of-fact physicality, had Holly not been taken with the notion/picture when I first told her about it. She pictured Maja as a monkey, moving around and over me, and though I resisted the image (and indeed chose not to use it here, talking about her) (it seemed to make fun of her smallness and nimbleness, and it raised the specter of racism, as she was of Pacific islander origin), it did stick with me, even as I continued to be treated by the woman.
