"narco-saint," who watches over,
among others, drug runners in northern Mexico.
Probably an amalgam of two bandits from
pre-revolutionary Mexico, Malverde is a Robin
Hood figure sometimes said to have healing
powers as well; his shrine, in Culiacan,
Sinaloa, is a popular worship destination.
