That's bastardizing Yeats. Never did get behind that poem. Screw slouching toward Bethlehem.

Home from work with a cold today, but did get out for an appointment. I think the diligent pushing of fluids, including every time I awoke in the night, may have helped hurry the fever away, and the nasty ache and swelling by one ear has subsided---and for that, I am thankful. I hate an ear infection. I don't do well with any severe pain in the head.

I did miss the reprise of soup at work, but so it goes.

In the back of my head some part of me, some equilibrium factor, seems to expect me suddenly to find myself getting through this difficult time and, I think, everything being okay again. The front of my head knows it ain't gonna go down that way, and the rest of me---back of the head, heart, soul, etc.---is pretty peeved that it keeps butting in with reminders of cold, hard reality.

And it's STILL snowing in Michigan.

Oh, um, that's me, I think. Those vibes I (and the rest of your posse) are sending out. It will be okay eventually, kiddo. Just different. And who knows? Maybe better. One never knows about the future till you get there.

Hope your cold's getting better.

It's still snowing in Mass./VT, too. Bleah.

I'm recovering remarkably quickly. Taking the day off and sleeping as much as I could (sans CPAP), plus other diligent care to self, seems to have helped. Maybe those zinc lozenges, too---I tell ya, when I catch a cold early enough and hit those, it seems not to last so long. (Knock on wood; I still have a sinus headache and shouldn't assume I'm fully well, as the boss was almost 2 weeks getting over what may be the same bug.)

Anyway, thanks for your kind thoughts.

One never knows about the future till you get there.

Yeah, good point---and by then it's not the future any more, so one really NEVER knows about the future!

That's great! That tailend stuff, though, it does seem to hang around regardless of how quickly you get rid of the big symptoms. I'm only now not coughing as much from my last cold.

'Tis true! Your comment made me think of the one Criswell makes at the beginning of Plan 9 from Outer Space (because I'm silly that way): "We are all interested in the future for that is where you and I will spend the rest of our lives." What a writer, that Eddie!
