Ah, my poor mother--with five boys messing up the house (my sister, of course was completely innocent), the perfection represented in that postcard was just an unattainable dream for her. She had to avert her eyes from such inspiring images.

Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe there is an afterlife. If so, that's what Mom's subdivision in heaven looks like.

Excellent! I wish I could have experienced those types of furninshings when they were new. Any time I've been exposed in real life to those styles of furniture, they've been worn out and not nearly as lovely as they would have been in their heyday.
