"Did you hear about how the bees can't find their hives because of the cell phones?"

and

"We're born without kneecaps. That's what they told me. You're actually born without kneecaps."

I've read a lot of your posts over the last few years--some amusing, some sobering, some fascinating, and some utterly incomprehensible to my non-literary mind. I can honestly say I've enjoyed most of them at some level. But this one, well, it's the bee's knees!

"We're born without kneecaps. That's what they told me. You're actually born without kneecaps."

Two of the people in nearby cubicles were discussing this a week or two ago. There'd been a show on Discovery channel or Discovery Health (or one of those sorts of TV channels) that mentioned it.

I checked out the kneecap thing: they are there when we're born but are only cartilage. The ossify into bone around age three. As many times as toddlers fall down, it's probably a good thing.

The same is true for the breastbone. The lower tip of it doesn't completely turn to bone in some people until age 18.
