My blesséd gift sub, which runs out this month (I think), gives me three at a time. Not sure what I'll do next.

I watched all of the Sopranos in fairly short order last summer, and maybe into the fall. Thought you'd seen all that was on DVD! It does put one in rather a dark space. Maybe not as dark as Oz.

Right now I'm watching episodes of The Mary Tyler Moore Show and The Bob Newhart Show---get this, it's dorky---back-to-back--- the way they played on the TV. And I'm wishing they could have the commercials in 'em. That'd REALLY take a body back, you know? "Content" has been rerun repeatedly, but most of the commercials would be direct throw-backs.

oh my god yes, the commercials! That would be great. I'll bet someone will do it one of these days. If I remember, I was a little too young to be allowed to stay up to watch those two shows. I remember being only somewhat familiar with them, and then maybe seeing them in reruns later, although neither was really one of the ones chosen to play as reruns in the after-school hour, the way Brady Bunch, Gilligan's Island, and Bewitched (my fave) were.

I have to say, though, that there's something I just really like about Bob Newhart.

There's something I rather liked then about Suzanne Pleshette. Or at least when I was in my early 20s and they were in reruns. And okay my friend had to point out her breasts to me, but then, yeah. Of course I was all getting into being all openly into women, and it was largely show. And now, looking at the program, I notice how only baby-steps-feminist both shows were, even MTM (which was a little better). Much less feminist than I'd somehow thought. They seemed to be trying much more to work in dealing with "premarital" sex, and that being okay, and referring to sex in general. So Suzanne Pleshette's character is not at all attractive to me, here in whatever wave of feminism we're said to be in.
