how queer

Re: how queer
Date: Feb. 14th, 2006 02:53 pm (UTC)The fashion world, as you know, is not only a mystery to me (much because of my deliberate avoidance of it) but so associated with such heights of distaste in my book (body fascism first among 'em, but also capitalist classist market nonsense, and subcultural cattiness, and of course gender bullshit---and I'm sure I could name others) that I am often hamstrung and hog-tied with debilitating qualms standing between me and the simple enjoyment of Audrey Hepburn's hat. How the pleasure in self-decoration I had as a child has been complicated nearly out of existence is a result of more than the contemptable aspects of Fashion, but the whole business is connected.
It does me good to know women who can love the things of that world without accepting the shit.
