that is, THE incredible! i mucho love the incredibles, esp their son who turns into the devil himself (quite unmetaphorically). i also like he's otherwise capable of walking on water. not to mention the outfit designer who *knows that capes are no good. my feelings exactly on the horrid *ponchos. who wants a bloody *poncho that was *crocheted from *synthetic fiber? that's like a hat with sleeves.

I was tickled how much I dug the Increds myself. That costume designer---Edna Mode---is my fave. She's based on Edith Head, you know.

but i *knew it! i mean, it had to be somebody cool like that. and ms. head did have a few good ideas, one has to say. i don't think i've ever seen her 'bust' before -- she was a stylish lady herself.

I don't know how much she was the dyke one hears rumored and how much we just like to claim her as queer, but you can hardly deny her queerness is the broad sense (that I like to think included with the [relatively broad itself, for homo terms] sense that is used for alternative sexualities and refusals of standard gender presentations and/or gender role acceptance).

I heard someplace that she left a lot of money in her will for her cats. Well, you know, for the care of her cats.

well, she certainly looks like she's not taking people's shit, which appears to go directly against the central tenet of femininity, which commands that you shall take everybody's shit, primarily bc that's what you've been designed for. if you can't take it, something must be wrong with you, and other women will be the first to tell you so.

not to mention that *imagination with women's fashion might disqualify you too.

"Thou shalt take everybody's shit" is the 11th (implied) commandment---first of the extra 10 that apply to us ladies? #12 is maybe about showing no loyalty to each other, or keeping each other down?

The fashion world, as you know, is not only a mystery to me (much because of my deliberate avoidance of it) but so associated with such heights of distaste in my book (body fascism first among 'em, but also capitalist classist market nonsense, and subcultural cattiness, and of course gender bullshit---and I'm sure I could name others) that I am often hamstrung and hog-tied with debilitating qualms standing between me and the simple enjoyment of Audrey Hepburn's hat. How the pleasure in self-decoration I had as a child has been complicated nearly out of existence is a result of more than the contemptable aspects of Fashion, but the whole business is connected.

It does me good to know women who can love the things of that world without accepting the shit.
