surprise! winter
Jan. 22nd, 2023 08:54 pmIt's chorus recovery day, a bi-annual holiday that occurs on the day after the second chorus concert. I'm doing pretty well, having slept enough, and with some painkiller in me, that I got to the legs-pretty-much-don't-hurt stage by the time I was awake around midday. Yesterday was kind of a rough day, particularly in the morning, and I think/hope I've turned a corner from that, too.
But the big thing today is that, when I did get up and got close to a window, I saw that it'd snowed, enough to cover the ground solidly in maybe an inch of wet white stuff. And it was still wafting down. We're overdue for a little of this kind of winter, and I've missed it. Happily I'd managed to get out to get some decent food yesterday, but I did end up going out to clean off the stoop---which turned out to be handy not only because it's trash night but also because my neighbor texted that she wanted to bring over some scones she'd just made. Which she then did, when I was out getting gas & taking the Jeep through the car wash to clean off the rest of the snow & doing a little Ingressing. And you know what? Those scones are the best scones I ever done et. I want to eat them all right now, but I have 3 3/4 scones left, and will probably have at least 3 left tomorrow.
Just talked to Peter. He came to our show last night. I got off the phone thinking I'd finish this post and then get a shower in, with time for my hair to dry a bit before tomorrow, but maybe the shower can wait until tomorrow. I still have a few other to-dos on my list, and then want to chill out and watch some TV.
Rewatching Better Call Saul the other night, I came to want to learn the chords for the cover of "Something Stupid" in a great time-passing montage that opens one of its episodes. Highly strum-along-with-able.
Look how I'm letting go of q marks on the TV show title there but still clinging to them on the song title. Or reverting to them, maybe.
I'm glad it snowed. After the next two days, which'll be warm-ish, it's supposed to snow again, and then be cold for a good stretch. Might not be so gung-ho about winter then. But, hey, if the heat and the power stay on, and there's no disastrous thing, I can handle it. And I can handle it, or will aim to handle it, if those conditions don't hold.
