I'm wearing an AFDB. AFDB thingie <-- click to learn more

Co-worker R recently turned me on to the work of Lyle Zapato, who has written, among other things, the following:

Are you a victim of MIND CONTROL? Many people are unaware that their actions and thoughts are being directed to suit the agendas of shadowy agencies. Do you; Trust the government and social institutions? Feel a lack of control over your life? Experience déjà vu? Want to purchase unneeded products? Have trouble sleeping or sleep too easily? Experience déjà vu? Doubt this book? If you have experienced any of these symptoms, then your mind is being controlled!

Hey---the fact that he messed up with that semi-colon doesn't mean he's wrong about keeping Dubya and other aliens from controlling my brain.

It's 15 minutes to the Ba(ch) School parade. (Spelled like the composer; pronounced like the sheep. Don't ask me why!)

Doesn't "zapato" mean "shoe" in Spanish? No relevance whatsoever. Just thought I'd mention it. It might not even be correct. At any rate, I think Lyle may be onto something.

Alas---I left MR early to get candy and be in place for trick-or-treaters, alumninum hat on head, but got precious few. No big Halloween decorations this year; that might have been part of it. Also it threatened to rain and then did.

How was post-'cane Miami for the holiday? It feels as if Miami has some of the Mardi-Gras-festive spirit, but I may be tuning into some odd cultural mix of queer decadence, Gloria Estefan, and the Food Channel.

If that's true, what's a Zapatista? (insert lame joke I'm embarrassed to've made here)

I was recently informed by a local history buff that the whole "Ba"ch thing is a bunch of "ba"loney, and that the family for which it's named does and always has pronounced their last name Bach, like the composer. I belive the guy. But it's one of those things: if you were to start saying it right, you would sound wrong.

Oh, yeah---know what you mean. I guess I'm finally pronouncing "Buscemi" right, but that took a while. Yeah---as in the actor who was John Waters on Waters' 1995 Christmas card:

Buscemi as Waters

It's the "Soup Nazi" character from Seinfeld. "No soup for you!" if you didn't follow his rules (about ordering, moving in the line, paying, etc.) to the letter (unwritten though the rules were). He's there because I was in a mood.

Not sure--little shoe?

Ah! Has the mood passed?

I think "-ista" is like "-ian," sorta. But it's Zapata, not zapato, in the word in question. 'Cept I like the fundamental everyperson kind of connotations of a shoe. Seems to match, somehow.

Well, I heard tell of some trick or treaters, but since I got off work around 1 a.m., received none. i've not had the chance to host trick-or-treaters in my adult life--it's enough to make me consider living in less sketchy neighborhoods. But one day, some lucky kid's gonna hit my house on Halloween and hit the holy jackpot; I always buy 25 pounds of chocolate on the outside chance. I forgot to remind you about sammy's annual. I know she'd have been pysched to see you.
Gloria Estefan and the Food Channel; like chocolate and peanut butter, baby!

Sam! I thought of her the other day walking by that Orchid place. I finally put 2 and 2 together that that's where she works---or worked. (Still?) Usually it's not open when I go by, but it was then; I peered in but no S.

I am ashamed of how little Halloweening I did. Some queer this year, on our best holiday! It's a little like that right now, though. Between worlds or something.

Nah... wish I could say I did. I just wanted to stick his face in here for some reason &, googling for pics, remembered the card and changed the image google to "buscemi waters" --- the pic is from the Atomic Books site.

Shit. Sorry to hear it! Almost called you last night but thought it might be kinda late---the time change has sorta thrown off my hunch about what time it is this week.

Maybe we can talk tonight? I'll be around the house, though I'm working a little late.
